Eagle Host

Background: Eagle Host are the watchers at the gates of Heaven. They have the most Guardian Angels within their ranks and always have looked out for the humans. They were the last to side with the other Hosts when intervention was deemed necessary, as their ancient pact of guardianship prevents a Guardian interfering in the physical events of their charges. Since then, their Seraphim have taken the role of watchers in the various Companies, always signalling for reinforcements before engaging in combat. When they enter combat, they prefer to do so transformed, and generally fight only in the air, where they are the undisputed masters of manoeuvring. Their preferred weapon is the flaming sword, easy to use one handed yet still capable of dealing enough damage to keep their enemies down.

Image: Tall, and often thin even in their human form. They do not change build extremely in transformation, but their skin takes on a grey colouring and their eyes enlarge slightly. Their skin ranges from mid grey to almost white when transformed, with the skin getting lighter with age. Their wings are always pure white or light silver.

Character Creation: Mental attributes are often primary, as are skills. High perceptions dominate, as do scores in Enigmas and Awareness. Strength is usually no higher than three. Common backgrounds include Arcane and Contacts.

Host Art: Kenning

Arts: Accelerometry, Immolation.

Host Advantages: Keen Vision — Eagle Host can count some of the best Guardian Angels amongst its members. This can be drawn from their uncanny eyesight. They may add their Divinity rating to any Perception roll involving vision.

Aerial Affinity — Eagles are as at home in the air as their namesake, and as such never suffer difficulty penalties due to being in flight. Also, they can never botch an Athletics or Dodge roll whilst flying. Obviously, this only works whilst transformed.

Host Limitation: Light Bones — Being the Host most suited to flight, Eagles’ bones have small air pockets like those of actual birds. This means that they subtract two dice from any soak pools. The seraph is also knocked back 3 yards per unsoaked Health Level.

Opinions on others

Bull Host — Why do they always race in without looking over the area first? If I had a nickel for every time I had to save one from an unexpected occurrence...

Man Host — These tinkerers and inventors are some of our greatest allies. They know not to charge in before the time is right. Their only problem is not charging in at all, sometimes.

Lion Host — Our noble rulers seem to think that just because they ran the show up there then they can do the same down here. I just wish that they’d apply some modern thinking. Good to know, though, and always looking out for everyone.

Nephandi — These drayna forced us to abandon our ancient creed. They are like a disease that must be destroyed at every point.

Mages — The ones still following the old ways are almost as bad as the Neph, but the tech-users have given us some nasty tricks.
